Vancouver Endurance Club
Vancouver Endurance Club (V.E.C.) is an evolutionary concept. We are MultiSport—with a Triathlon Focus—yet open to Cyclists, Swimmers, Runners, and cross-training Endurance Athletes of all kinds. A Club that reflects our present reality; athletes participating in a variety of activities but a group which shares a passion for improvement.
Multilateral development is an essential part of long term individual progress and physical sustainability. A balanced athlete is a healthy athlete. A healthy athlete is a better athlete. Everyone wishes to improve and our Club provides the opportunity to do so. VEC goes beyond encouraging cross training we incorporate it into the training schedule
The mission is simple: An unwavering collective commitment to the success of each individual member. As such, we are both a Club, and a Team. Dual membership types "Club" and "Team" are now offered to suit your varying levels of availability and motivation. Success is achieved through the application of the best coaching methodology and by creating a prime environment for progress. An environment of common values, sharing and support.
V.E.C. is an extension of Cross Athletic Consulting and as such quality in all aspects of the club are of paramount importance. Simultaneously VEC is open to beginners and experts alike with a founding membership from 2011 of friendly athletes. We cross the spectrum—please pardon the pun—of provincial and national champions to newbies. Endurance sports need not be intimidating or "exclusive". Everyone can participate as long as you have some level of commitment to train and improve.
A Note from the coach:
If you’re in great shape you will find a good home in VEC. If you’re out of shape I encourage you join my group as well. Training solo to get into shape... before committing to a group to "get into shape" is counter-productive. Moreover this often does not happen. My coaching strongly emphasizes correct technique and skilled movement patterns in Swim, Bike, and Run. Skill is the foundation of sport. The best time to work on this component is during the early/off season when intensities are relatively low. Becoming part of a club is not about being able to make it to all the workouts. Belonging to a group means you get more from each session and you become a better athlete sooner than you could on your own. Plus it’s more fun:)
Life and sport can be distilled to a binary choice. Do you choose fear or desire?Paul Cross
